The Hebrew University Language Center is an Associate Member of CercleS, the European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education.

CercleS brings together almost 400 Language Centres, Departments, Institutes, Faculties or Schools in Higher Education whose main responsibility is the teaching of language and academic communication. CercleS is committed to the highest possible standards in language education and research in order to support Language Centres in European establishments of higher education; promote research in foreign language learning at international level; and encourage international and interdisciplinary cooperation between Language Centres.

 

The Hebrew University Language Center belongs to the Wulkow group, founded in January 2009 by Dr Thomas Vogel, director of the language centre at the European-University Viadrina in Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany. The purpose of the group is to bring together directors of language centres in Europe and beyond to exchange ideas and best practices, but above all to promote quality in teaching and management across Europe and beyond.

 

The Hebrew University Language Center was founded with the guidance and mentorship of a range of leading institutions abroad, with whom the center continues to collaborate – most notably,  the Language Center of Freie Universität Berlin, along with the centers at Europa Universität Viadrina, University of Groningen, King's College London, University of Cambridge, Middlebury Language Schools and Kanda University of International Studies.        

 

 

The Hebrew University Language Center is an authorized CILS testing center. The CILS Certification, offered by the University for Foreigners of Siena, is an officially recognized qualification that certifies the degree of linguistic-communicative competence in Italian and the first Italian certification to have adopted the system of  six levels of linguistic-communicative competence proposed by the Common European Framework of Reference of the Council of Europe.  

 

 

The Hebrew University Language Center is an authorized SIELE testing center. SIELE, the Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española, certifies electronically the command of the Spanish language proficiency for students and professionals.  The Instituto Cervantes, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Buenos Aires guarantee the standards for quality and good practices in the creation of the tests and the use of diverse linguistic varieties in the Hispanic world.

 

The Hebrew University Language Center collaborates with Goethe Instiut, Israel to promote acquisition of German and intercultural communicative competence in higher education and beyond. Students are encouraged to pursue the Goethe-Zertifikat to certify their language level for personal and professional purposes.   

 

The Hebrew University Language Center collaborates with Institut français Israël to promote acquisition of French and intercultural communicative competence in higher education and beyond. Students are encouraged to pursue the DELF certification to attest to their language level for personal and professional purposes.
